Become a Volunteer on Walhalla Goldfields Railway

Walhalla Goldfields Railway

The Walhalla Goldfields Railway started in 1993 and in a short 10 years has become a major tourist railway and tourist attraction for Gippsland. Over 100,000 hours of volunteer time and about two million dollars has transformed a barely recognisable former railway alignment into a leading tourist icon in Victoria. Our railway has primarily been constructed with volunteers and is presently almost exclusively run by volunteers.

Presently the railway operates from the famous gold-mining town of Walhalla along a 3.5 kilometre track to Thomson Station on the Thomson River. Although we are the second busiest tourist railway in the state, we are continuing to build our line a further 10 kilometres into Erica. So wether you would like to either operate or build a railway, this is where you come in!
